2023 BGSC OVERVIEW - OPEN TO ALL GIRLS GRADES: KINDERGARTEN - 6TH**
                                                                **(CURRENT GRADE AT TIME OF REGISTRATION)

PIGTAIL Division

• Grades: Kindergarten and 1st grade
• Great fundamental program
• Girls are pitched to (a batting tee will be used if there is no contact after 6-8 pitches).
• Coaches assist on the field and behind the plate.
• There is no catcher; All other formal positions are introduced and played.
• *Practices are held at the coach's discretion, but are typically held once a week depending on game schedule.
• *Games are on Monday-Thursday evenings at 6pm or 7pm and all games are played at Bradley Park.
• Equipment needed: Softball glove/mitt. BGSC provides the batting helmets, bats,  fun colored uniform t-shirts, visors, and crazy fun socks! Girls can wear any type of shorts or pants.
• Season starts the week of June 7th and concludes the week of July 20th.

PONYTAIL Division

• Grades: 2nd and 3rd
• League focuses on the fundamentals of the game and will introduce strategic play with extra focus on game rules, game play, formal positions, and the introduction of pitching.
• Coaches will pitch at this level and all formal field positions are played.
• *Practices are held at the coach's discretion, but are typically held once a week depending on game schedule.
• *Games are played on Monday-Thursday evenings at 6:00 or 7:15pm at the Bradley fields. Typically 2 games played per week.
• Equipment needed: Softball glove/mitt. Cleats are encouraged, but not mandatory. BGSC provides batting helmets with face mask, bats, fun colored uniform t-shirts, visors, and crazy fun socks! Girls can wear any type of shorts or pants.
• Season starts the week of June 7th and concludes the week of July 20th

FISHTAIL Division

• Grades: 4th,5th, and 6th
• Player fast-pitch and all formal field positions are played.
• *Practices are held at coach's discretion, but typically held once or twice a week depending on game schedule.
• *Games will be played throughout the week at 6:30pm at the  Bay Middle School field or BHS Softball field. 
• Equipment needed: Softball glove/mitt and cleats. BGSC provides batting helmets with face mask, bats, uniform shirt, pants, and visors.
• Season begins the week of June 7th and concludes the week of July 20th.

ALL DIVISIONS:

• Each team to be managed & coached by parents or adult volunteer.
• Published rules for each division that will be strictly followed  (modified ASA Rules).
•  Team practices & games in the evening to allow parent coaching and attendance by  players in summer day-care.
• Practices to begin in May (not necessarily on in-fields) to focus on fundamentals & rules.
• 8-10 game schedule for PIGTAIL Division, 10-12 game schedule for PONYTAIL Division, and 12-15 game schedule (including playoffs) for FISHTAIL Division  
• Player clinics to teach fundamentals and techniques.
• Funding by registration fees and sponsorships.
